I used 0W40 for 1 interval (6400 miles) and did an oil analysis. Iron and lead were a bit high, although the oil was run through the winter. I've seen some other oil anlysis that seems to indicate 0W40 is not the best M1 grade. Unfortunately I had 2 cases of 0W40 in my garage when I decided I did not really want to use it anymore, so what I do now is use a 50/50 mix of 0W40 and 15W50 M1. Very happy so far, but the car did run fine on 0W40 as well. I also attribute some of the high lead to lugging the engine a bit more then I should, which I have stopped doing, and using 5th gear while towing.
