Floating brakes when wet.....yikes!

There was a thread about this before a few months back....just wondering if anyone found a solution (changing pads, etc). The car is a 2000 9-3SE.
Problem is when it is raining or like last night rain/sleet/snowing on a LONG drive home from NYC to Massachusetts when the brake is depressed after driving a while you get some SERIOUS floating until the pads and disks dry enough to grab. I know it's going to be there but it still scares me to death every time it happens. Last night was the worst ever.
Would changing pads to a different brand other than OEM help? I really want something that will cut down on brake dust anyway. I need to address this because I will be commuting weekly down to NYC for my job for the forseeable future. With winter suddenly here I don't want those drives home Friday nights to be extra exciting!
Any thoughts....anyone.
Thanks in advance,
Todd
