I have been using 10W30 oil, per original Saab owner's manual, 3-5k between oil changes, about 4x per year.
I ran the oil pressure test after I got the same suggestion on the Auto-Rx board and from a mechanic - do not stir up crud with a cleaner w/o first making sure the oil pump and pick up screen are working ok.
The 2% of fuel in the oil was after 2.5k miles(!)... it is cumulative, so extended intervals with synth oil are out of the question with that much blow-by.
First bottle of Auto-Rx went in with new oil and filter yesterday, after a double dose of Lubro-Moly valve cleaner last week.
The deposits in the engine are not exactly sludge, more like tiny cornflakes of solid, but not hard material. On an older car, we would have said it was carbon mixed with oil, the expression used then was "coked up". I hope none of the galleys in the engine are blocked and need cleaning. Comes from PCV system on this car not working well in the cold and short distance driving - can't say I wasn't warned.
I would like to run Amsoil with two changes per year if I get this taken care of (nothing against Mobil 1, just personal preference)
