You record book of oil changes, etc. should be sufficient proof. If it is not THEN you have every right to accuse SAAB/GM of setting the burden of proof too high. Remember that the legal department has to vet all letters, press releases, etc. and the legal department is by nature ultra-conservative. The dealer may be a lot more lenient.

With your history of 5,000-mile changes, you are probably not at much risk for sludge; however, that is no reason to overlook a free extended warranty.

I also follow the 5,000 mile oil and filter changes, or once a year (whichever comes first) philosophy using Mobil 1 and quality filters (Purolator Pureone, Mobil 1).
