is a legal document. The question of what qualifies as a proper oil change under their "promise" or "contract" has precious little to do with how long a good sythetic oil can in actuality provide good lubrication. The whole complaint in this thread really is that the lubrication schedule induced by Saab and other makers in the mind of a mechanically unsophisticated customer might result in sludge, but that people who dutifully follow the actual standard may not be able to prove that the standard was performed to the satisfaction of corporate GM. I would have to do a little research to see whether warranty protection can legally be conditioned on professional work as opposed to do-it your self work. GM may not be on the best ground there either. Again, though, if GM hangs tough, the ultimate legal recourse is a bit of grief. As we have seen on these lists, many people will not even consider resorting to their courts whose job it is to protect our legal rights. Courts are not just for corporations.
