Susan,
You will have more repairs and costs than a Honda or Toyota, but in my opinion it is more fun to drive. The important thing is to follow the maintenance schedule and do not go 'on-the-cheap' when changing oil, filters, etc. But then I would say the same thing for the Nissan, Toyota, or Honda. Use the good stuff and the SAAB will treat you well.
It may be a little more expensive, but would recommend that you hold off if you are in the SAAB mood and find a SAAB Certified pre-owned. Unlike some advertisements you see, the SAAB Certified Truly is the the best warranty.
Bumper to Bumper, with no deductible for 100,000 miles or seven years from original delivery.
This will save you from the unexpected 'surprise' expenses.
Good Motoring
