I do tend to disagree with his logic on this one. This is what I consider a saab bias wreaking havoc on someone's better judgment.
If you get in a lot of accidents, he has an excellent point. At the same time, you have to ask yourself if someone sold an airbag upgrade, would you really be interested in it?
If you need to haul big things around, you need to decide if you should be thinking hatchback, truck, or suv. If you are a drummer and you plan on hauling your gear quite a bit but you don't want to go the conventional pick up route, then again, I say Mike has an excellent point.
This is why my post was titled "it depends on your perspective." Honestly, it really does. If you have a solid income and you can afford the luxury of a car that requires more maintenance than a honda (and regardless of what anyone on this post says, all independent research reaches that conclusion with massive predictability), but also grants you greater safety (which it certainly does) and great cargo possibility, then saab is an excellent car for your money... which will be spent on your car, to some extent. But, if you love your car, then it will be worth it.
In short, if I'd have known what the job market would be like it my part of the world two years ago, I would have gotten a japanese beater rather than a saab... though I love my saab. My two cents...
