Thanks for the advise guys. I will try again now. I am using the correct type, of real vise grips but i was a little frustrated last night and was using a hammer. They were opening up with impact but bolt material is soft. I'll try with malet today. I left a few details out of post yesterday. I started with 3/8 drive socket, then tryed box wrench then steped up to 1/2 drive thenback to 3/8 drive with pipe vise grip. I'm in my early 40's and have always done my own work on cars, also worked in a shop in in my teens so I have done lots of oil changes in my days. so far this has been the most difficult. I'll post my results later. I'm also going to try to replace a frt heel bearing today.
Thanks again!
Dan
