I'm not as familiar with your car (T-5) as mine, but maybe it's related to intake? Turbo bypass valve making noise on it's way to failure? When you lift to shift after accelerating under load, the flow thru the BPV is larger vs. just revving without load. That would explain why it doesn't sound when you just rev in neutral. Also, your intake mods would make it that much easier to hear...
You said it doesn't happen when decelerating in gear, but try lifting very suddenly & completely, like when shifting.
Too bad you can't make it happen without actually driving. It would be good to listen under the hood & pinpoint the location.
