The flush products, both types, can be useful, but as others say, perhaps not when the sludge gets too heavy. Certainly can be used as a routine maintenance thing.
The oil pump may be worn out. The oil pressure can be checked. First remove the oil pressure relief valve cap and spring. Check that the piston is not stuck open. If you need to remove burrs etc, do that. Cuts and grooves in the piston do not mean that it cannot be used that way.
