I think the DI would only be problem if the car turns on the starter but wont fire. If it won't turn on the starter then the DI probably isnt the cause.
I had a similar problem on a different non-saab car. Turned out that it was just dirty terminals on the battery. After a run the battery had a enough "juice" to overcome the added resistance at the battery terminals. But after a short run from cold it hadn't accumulated enough charge. Oddly It would then not start at all and went completely dead, presumably as it scavenged for earth somewhere else it tripped a thermal fuse or something. The car had had a $1000 preventative service at the main Chrysler dealer the day before the fault developed . Apprantley you dont get your battery terminals cleaned and greased for that !!
Anyhow I would have you battery and terminals checked, its a cheap simple first step.
