I have owned numerous older cars in the 10years 100,000+miles range. I first bought a saab (a an '88 9000) because I wanted cheap rocket-ship performance. I got it, and was totally hooked! I now have a '98 900 turbo with 117K miles and like the other saabs before it its a gem. I am one of those people who has posted many times for advice to this board and found everyone very helpful, that does not indicate an unreliable car... just a useful and friendly resource! I have paid peanuts in maintenance and if you are the type prepared to tackle a few jobs yourself my Saabs have been amongst the easiest cars to work on I have ever owned. Not that everything is easy to reach or easy to do , but (for the most part) was well engineered in the first place and much less likely to snap off in your hand or improve impossible to access. just my 2Cents
