hello
I have a few questions for some of you on this board. Back in November I purchased a 99 saab 9-3 SE auto with 88K. Now with 104k and about 6K in repairs I have found out my car needs a new timing chain. The garage quoted me Over $1300 for all spindles, and chains, and w/e to replace everything. Im nly 17 years old and I paid for my saab $4600, and the 6K in repairs. (turbo rebiult, O2 sensors, Belts, Pulleys, altinator, water pump, struts, mounts, exhaust, brakes, un name it its been done.) but after this week, with a exhaust manifold gasket, and the turbo work needed-caused by the turbo being re-installed wrong. I have not really more then a few hundred dollars to my name, so ii was wondering if anybody cold give me some DIY tips on doing the timing chain, or if someone in the boston aera would mybe be willing to help for a small sum. I really love saabs, and would love to keep my saab on tyhe road but with these repairs bills keeping it may be out of the question if i am not able to some of this costly work myself. Thank you for all the help this board has provided me with over the past few months... P.S. mechanic said timing chain was going but Okay to drive. you can hear it at idle but car runs okay, but rough at top of RPM.
