Doing a timing chain replacement including guides and such is in my eyes as complicated as engine work goes.
I don't see anything else being more complicated so if you are fluent in doing cylinder head gaskets and changing engines and such, it might work out for you.
If your experiance is limited to changing oil and spark plugs and your tool assortment is as big (or small), timing chain work is not for you, yet.
Still, it is lots of DIY people that have done it so it is just a matter of where you see yourself as a mechanic.
