No answers either, but my 95 900SE (102k miles) does the same thing. Cranks for longer before finally catching, then idle runs rough - engine sounds like its reving up and down without touching the accelorator. Touching the accelorator has no effect on the revs etc (until later on).
Now if I put the foot on the accelorator it will backfire.
Starts perfectly cold, but the warmer it is, the worse it behaves. Hot day and 30 mins of driving = big problem. Cold day + 30 mins of driving, less problem.
The worst thing is that it's intermittent, and sometimes starts perfectly warm, but it seems to be getting worse. I've taken it to my mechanic but the intermittent nature means it's hard to get the problem to occur, and harder to know if it's fixed.
I have replaced the ignition switch, the air filter, the fuel filter, the vacuum hoses, the battery (from a different problem)and fixed a coolant leak.
Any ideas (including what a CPS is) would be wonderful......
