cleaning the lock cylinder with a solvent, cleaning with compressed air and re-lubricating the pop up part of the lock cylinder has solved the problem....battery is charging and its started like a charm for the last 36 hours. I believe that when the key was being removed from the ignition the pop up part of the key cylinder wasnt popping out an the as far as the car was concerned it thought the key was still on on the on position....guessing that was causing a drain on the battery to the point where there wasnt enuf cranking power to turn the starter motor over. Anybody have details or procedures more adequate for cleaning out the cylinder and contacts ie diagrams? I'll keep an eye on it and see if that continues to be the culprit. Thanks to all responders.
