Fuel pump change in convertible.

My NG900 convertible has about 200 000km now and I'm wondering if I should change a fuel pump to it. No problems yet with the pump, but I have understood that they often fail with these kilometers. Probably nicer to change it now than tow and change later.
I have understood that you can either drop the fuel tank or cut hole under rear seat. There is probably no problems cutting the hole in sedans, but has anybody cut the hole in convertible? I just wonder if there is risk that the hole somehow would affect rigidity of the convertible body?
