Some answers:
1. The passenger door lock works with the lock button on top of the drivers door. If the drivers door is lock, unlock it and the passenger door will unlock too. If the drivers door isn't lock, lock it than unlock it and the passenger door will unlock too. I just tried both scenarios on my 2003 convertible and they do work.
2. I can't help you with this one. Something is obviously loose but I have not idea what.
3. The AC switches to manual mode when the top is down. The reason for this is that unless the temperature of the outside air swirling through the car is miraculously the same as what you have the climate control set for, the AC will chug away at maximum setting trying to get it there. An impossible task and a waste of gas. I check my owners manual and could not find a way to reprogram this.
3 (your other 3). There is a little hole on the side of you key (assuming you have the one piece key remote) that you insert a pin into to unlock it and remove the top of the key. It isn't an easy process and you might just want to have it done by your mechanic when you take it in next week. I have yet to do it but that is the word on Saabnet.
4. As to the "Time for Service" message, you can either wait it out or reset it. It is based on time and does not monitor usage as do some car's service messages. To reset, next time you start the car, push the button once to clear the service message. The push it again and hold it down, it will say cleared after a few seconds but don't let go, keep holding it until it says "Service." That should do it.
5. You can get some sport exhaust systems that will make it growl a bit better, check GenuineSaab and others. You won't get a tremendous growl out of it though because of the turbocharger. Turbos are pretty good silencers in themselves.
My convertible's exhaust is stock but I have a sport exhaust on my 9-5 and it is a bit louder especially at full throttle but not much. This exhaust eliminated one muffler and shrunk the other and it still isn't much louder!
