Convertible Handling question

Am re-entering the worlds of Saabs and have been out test driving several versions, 1996, and 2003. I fit best in the mid-90's ones, but like the styling more of the eary 00's, and leaning toward the newer for bang for buck (assuming I dont get told that the mid-90;'s are better buy!) However, EVERY one that I have driven lately seems to have that "death wobble" in the front end. Not sure if they were poorly maintained, one was cleary out of alignment, but all had newish tires. So, question, does the converible handle noticeably diffenent that the coupes? I have had several classic and NG 900's, none seem to have had this squirrely of a front end. I accept that I am going to have to get the steering brace and rack, just help overall feel, but these just seem really really bad. Thoughts and direction are greatly appreciated and it is good to be back!
