EC purge valve cleaning procedure?

I have what appears to be fairly typical EC purge valve problems (stalling at warm idle, e.g. at a red light) and I'd like to try cleaning my EC purge valve. I've gone five or six screens deep into the forum search results and not found a howto for this- can anyone point me to one? I can probably figure it out if I could just get the electrical clip off- is there a trick?
TIA!
