Just bought a '99 9-3 SE CV with 74k and have a few questions I've researched here and elsewhere but still am unsure about.
1. I added the GenuineSaab 6-point subframe brace to reduce cowl shake. It helped. Is there anything else I can do to smooth the ride or will other mods just make the ride more firm (I live in NH, Land of 10,000 Potholes).
2. One or more front (I think) brakes squeal/chirp at all times. Mechanic said it's due to new pads put on worn rotors. Is there anything I can do, short of a full brake job?
3. Any opinions on smoothest and quietest all seasons and/or snow tires. I have two sets of 16" rims to use.
4. Is there any reason to buy gas higher than 87 octane if the engine isn't knocking?
5. I've read that it's good to buy a DI cassette and keep it in the trunk for emergencies. Any idea how often they really fail (again, mine is a '99 with 74k)?
6. Is there any relatively inexpensive way to improve the stereo's sound? It's astonishingly bad.
Thanks,
Chris
