I don't know what your situation is, so I will comment on what I see as a recurring thread from people who are new viggen owners on this BB.
The 9-3's and variants don't suffer lack of maintenance well. If you are on top of it, they are great cars. I get the impression from some new-to-viggen owners though, that some of them are on tight budgets, and since these viggens already have several years and thousands of kms/miles on them, they are in the midstage of their "lives" and probably due for major services (particularly if you are in the rust belt). With that said, I'd love to have a viggen, but it would be with the realization that front suspension (struts, strut mounts, strut bearings, springs, wheel bearings), coolant hoses, waterpumps, timing/balance chains, thermostats, headgaskets, MAF, throttle position sensor, engine temperature sensor, crankshaft position sensor, DIC, etc would probably all need to be done. So buying a used viggen is just the start. Bank on spending a few thousand on parts to bring it back to factory. Of course, you can choose not to do any of the above, but experience shows that neglecting things like the headgasket can have dire consequences. Good luck!
