Price is always relative to condition, car location, and how bad the owner wants to sell, and how much they either think- or know that the car is worth. I own two Viggens:
An 01 Steel Gray 3 door. Purchased Oct 2006 on eBay from DE. It was (and still is) in seriously excellent mechanical and cosmetic condition. It then had 152K miles and I paid $6300 (4 years ago). A REALLY good deal, even if I bought it now. The seller was highly motivated.
An 02 Silver Vert. Purchased June 2010 from RI. It has never seen winter, absolute pristine condition. It had 46,000 miles on it, absolutely nothing wrong with it. I paid 10,500, and the seller definitely knew what he had.
I search for Viggen's daily, on eBay and Craigslist. I have checked out several. Prices are all over the range- way above and below book. I always use NADA. And that is because my insurance company and bank uses NADA to access values. Kelly is always higher than NADA, which is why everyone uses KBB. I think NADA is more accurate and realistic.
Even recently, I have found really nice 2000 Viggen's for $5000. But it seems like the price people are willing to pay for Viggen's has dropped significantly in the past few years.
But condition, color, mileage, and year play a huge part in the price. I think often more than in many other cars. And obviously a clean Carfax and number of owners is huge- like any car.
People will pay huge sums for yellow Viggen ( very rare) for example.
