> Steering - in addition to the infamous tram lining, [snip] Is this common?
Simply - YES! You will find that the firm side walls of the SP2000's contribute to this problem. High tire pressure while possibly preventing wheel damage also contributes to this problem.
Others have fitted alternate tires and report reduced tram lining.
You might hear that the Abbott kit resolves this problem. Yes it helps some but doesn't eliminate what you have documented. What the Abbott kit does yield is VERY accurate steering.
> Tech II settings?
Many that are not documented in the owners manual. This should be an FAQ topic. You should have received a programming card with the Viggen. My dealer threw it away during the pre-delivery inspection. Note that the shop manual is the only source which documents EVERY programming option.
> Viggen vs. classic 900T?
The Viggen body is a POJ as compared to the old 900. (I wonder if BMW still holds to the engineering standards of 15 years ago?) I agree that the Viggen has better performance than the 900T. On the other hand I find the Viggen much more fun to drive than my '85 900T.
