I recently looked into tires for a few of my cars- while the shock absorber you have has a good bit to do with the stiffness of the ride, tires -especially as they get to the second half of their treadlife have alot to do as well.
I have a volvo S-80 I replaced the shocks all around with boge sachs touring shocks and after reading up on several tires types I was between the continental contact dws and the cooper CS4. I took the cooper which was equally rated and even higher rated for stopping distances. I drove them from NJ to SC and back- love them!!! quiet, solid on the road, reduced hydofoil risks and performed very well when I had to hit the brakes hard on the interstate a time or two.
Check the coopers out- google them for a review. I plan to put them on my 97 2.3L at the next opportunity.
