You can only get a drum sander in so far. The area beyond where the drum sander does not reflect light very well. It has been smoothed as well, but
not much metal can be removed there. You also cannot get beyond the bend. Note that the leading lip has been reduced to match the wall thickness of the mating aluminum tube. This provides a flush ID transistion.

I do not have a before picture. The stock condition has a very thick square lip that is a choke point which creates severe turbulance and a pressure drop. This turbulance creates eratic flow and uneven cylinder charging.

After removing enough metal to get a drum sander in side, the work goes quite well. But the drum can be instable and difficult to control. I suggest using a course grit 1" drum sander to get started if possible. I got a flex shaft to do the work, and mounted in on my drill press. If you a small hand drill, it will need to be secured when using a flex shaft, you will have to watch that it does not overheat.

Wet/Dry sandpaper with water should be used in the final stages. Then wash with detergent.
