Drove my NTM Saab home from CT to VA yesterday. It's now sitting proudly next to my '92 900S. A few observations and a couple of questions:
1. On mid-grade gas (89) computer says I got 37.0 mpg over 541 miles at an average speed of 64 mph (manual). I haven't calibrated the speedo with GPS but this seems at least 5% optimistic to me.
2. The turbo did not give me the same push-in-the-back acceleration that I got from a 1989 9000 last week. Is this due to heavier weight or should I have the boost tested?
3. The car feels like new - taut suspension, quiet, sure-footed; cosmetically easily a 8.5/10 even after 205K miles. Thanks for taking such good care of it, Bruce.
4. AM radio reception is terrible, and the antenna mast does not go up or down. I suppose I should replace the antenna, and perhaps check the connector at the radio.
5. Light bulbs for tach and high range of speedo are out. From research, this looks like it would take me a couple of hours to remedy. I just hope I don't break any of the plastic bits when removing the panel.
6. I understand that there is no Bentley for this model. Is the Haynes manual worth buying? I had bought a Chilton for our VW last year and it was useless.
The wife (bought it for her) and I look forward to its next 205K miles.
