Hello,
First of all the Time for Service light is purely coincidence. It basically comes on once a year. You can clear it by holding until is says cleared then continue to hold until service comes up. Then its gone until next year.
I would recommend not driving the car until you figure this out you may be damaging the engine. I would start by checking the oil pressure with a gauge. The low pressure sensor comes on way to low. Also I would recommend a 5w40 oil. 5w20 is too thin for this engine.
You say it sounds like a loud lifter noise that is worse under hard acceleration. Does the low oil pressure light come on? How does the engine sound at idle? If you listen to the engine with a large screwdriver pressed to year were does the noise seem the loudest?
Do you have the latest and greatest pcv set up on your car?
If you remove the dipstick does the exaust get louder or actual smoke come from the tube? If it does I would recommend a leak down test on the cylinders. These are just some ideas to start with. Ask any more questions you have or with answers to any of my questions.
By the way I was a dealership tech for 15 years until Saab stopped making them so I was there working on all the issues with this engine.Good Luck and keep us advised, Bernie
