Ok, so as car ppl on this site we all know how the majority of ppl are with their cars, how they look at them as just get in it and go. My wife, the new driver that she will be, I feel will be the same way. I was able to pick her up a nice 2002 SE for $600 with a slight rod knock. Not sure how the old owner took care of the car but I believe she was a "get in it and go" type of person. I found out the oil pressure light didn't work so I assumed it ran low on oil at some point which brought along the rod knock. So here I am new bearings and oil pressure sensor later I would like to know if anyone can point me in the direction of the best oil pressure gauge to get to put on the car. I want to go digital if that will work for the reason of, I can tell my wife to watch for a specific number and if it drops below that to pull over and shut the car off. I want to keep it as simple as possible for her.
Can I do digital? Should I do analog? Can I ground an electrical gauge and use the wire coming from the oil pressure sensor to make the electrical gauge work? Any advice would be great. As I am not a mechanic just a guy that likes to keep his SAAB's running as best they can. Thanks.
