Not sure where the numbers are at specifically, but it doesn't surprise me they are low. If you have the means, stay firm and hopefully they will come around. Like I said, I took my insurance company to court, and won, and they cut a check for more than I was asking after paying my legal fees, etc (not mention their own legal fees.) But, I had a buddy attorney who worked for cheap, it took hundreds of hours of prep to be ready with facts and analysis, and - the hardest part - it took almost a full year to win that court case, and another month after that before I actually got a check.
I'll try to share my Google drive with you that has my notebook I prepped for court. It has a section with every email back and forth between insurance and I, a section on the valuation reports they prepared vs mine, and a section with detailed info on Viggens. Its over 400 pages all printed out. At least 90% is relevant to my case, but it may be a good framework for you.
Clearly documented objective facts and data is what will win. I don't know how my numbers relate to what you are looking to get, but I'd think it is certainly a fair spot to ask for between $9,000-$10,000 based on what I can see. Like I said before, all the mods were cool, but you won't see a dime for them (and legally you probably aren't entitled to any) but the condition you kept it in should make a huge difference.
Best of luck - keep us posted. Whatever you learn here may help the next guy too. Don't forget to pay your experiences forward.
