well, I have had the idea to fit a used A/r turbo fr the Porsche Boxster I believe it is about the right size similar engine and was going to build a special motor 8K redline dump the balance shafts , etc they also have some mod that keeps the throttle open so the turbo keeps spinning! ( but cuts off the fuel ) I believe the adjustable vane turbo will give you a wider powerband about 20% +
swain tech good ceramic coating used by many NASCAR racers and they do motor parts too valves, heads, brake pistons, engine pistons.
going to have my aftermarket headers and test pipes of the F430 done by them !
my conclusion is it's pretty futile to mod a viggen as the trans is crap and cannot be fixed and the six-speed diesel trans is NOT any better! sorry ,just different the saab transmission is the Achilles heel, and is an unsolvable problem it makes the cars useless really may as well stay near stock .they will NEVER stop breaking. sorry to be Debbie downer but it's real .
I have two viggens that run and well . heaps of parts I've bought, and many projects I have done & left to do replacing this and improving that but the thrill is gone now due to a hostile, snobby vile atmosphere of some in the Saab community and those who have gossiped, lied cruelly, threatened, abused me and my brother and wife and children, family personally and on social media and cheated, ripped me off in business dealings. the realization now it is really a waste of time! far better I spend the effort enjoying my Ferrari! and improving it which I am doing it has lost 150 lbs already w/ 200 more to go 50 more HP soon and gradual improvement is ongoing . it's a different crowd of Italian car owners . sorry to say, better so far w/a few exceptions. and the car ? OMG amazing! and near stock !
