You mentioned the problem did not occur in 1st or 2nd gear. Your car is usally restricted from full boost in 1st and 2nd, unless you are using a external boost controller like Dean. Then you would get full boost in all gears. I have not had a similar situation, my boost will go about 1/8 in the red and then slide back to the beggining of red. I have never had the car stutter. Is your car stock? If it is not, can you put it back to stock and start analyzing from there. Posts have mentioned to check your plugs. Have you? The assumption is you are using high test fuel. 91 or better, (US numbers). Check to insure the fuel filter was replaced. Although if the fuel filter were the culprit it would probably happen in all gears. Based on your description, the car seems to be reaching the boost cutout. I would also check the boost control valve, it needs to be able to hold the boost. If it doesn't the vehicle may act strange. Also be sure to check all the clamps on the intercooler tubes. I had one loosen and seperate. Provide information on the vehicle as far as what you have done, both in upgrades and trouble shooting.
