Good ol' Alice, may she RIP with BMW.
Is it that cold in New England, now ?? Or are you saying that you are a low mileage driver, and this oil change will last you until April, so to speak ?
Hard question because there is so much more warm weather (than cold) to address in this question. As I see this, do you change it for the week or two weeks of cold temps you post in a 6 month(approx) period???
I guess that is a 50/50 call here. Some would suggest to go 10W-30 as you have 150-166 days of warmer weather, and to provide maximum upper protection for the turbo.
Others post that 5W flows better in the 5 -10 days of coldets temps you expect in your post.
In dino/petroleum oil I lean to the 10W-30. If you go synthetic, like Mobil 1 for example, I use 10W -30 first choice or 5W-30 alternate . I live in Michigan---see "cold" in the dictionary--especially this summer.
