Yes, I did that about a month ago. With the onset of cold weather, I found that the turbo response was much faster, along with more power.
With the added power and faster spoolup, the pressure overshoot is more abrupt. TurboSX makes a unit which is similar to the HBC, with a ball spring design that creates a non linear response, which maximized spool up. Bleed valves which do not have this feature allow the wastegate to crack open too early, which delays the onset of full boost pressures.
The TurboXS unit also has a variable bleed valve as well, so its response characteristic can be tuned. Juggling two variables can be tricky. While doing repeated WOT runs to set it up, the oil leaks from my rear seal became a real problem, driveway needs to be cleaned now. And that led to the replacement of the seal, clutch and suspension work.
With the cold weather, I have not spent time finding the sweet spot with this new boost valve. I did modify it two weeks ago, to increase its flow rate. The pressure overshoots are a result of the boost valve and wastegate combination not being able to stoke the wastegate open fast enough. Insufficient slew rate in the feedback mechanism.
I fitted a TurboXS bypass valve at the same time. My objective with it was to get rid of the OEM unit which honks all of the time with my modified boost controls.
