I can only comment about installation of the rack clamp and brace on a 9-3. From the picture on Abbott’s web site I believe that the issues will be the same. On the 9-3 this item is installed from the top in less than an hour.
The only trick is how to attach the brace. The end that attaches to the fender well wall uses an existing hole. There is a gaiter that it attached to the well via plastic fasteners. Remove one fastener and use fasten the clamp to the wall via this hole. While the supplied hardware will require reaming out the hole I decided to use a smaller bolt & nut such that I did not damage the rust proofing. Given the limited rigidity of the fender well this is not an issue.
Note that you must use a thread locker on the fasteners (the blue removable stuff is what Saab uses on the existing fasteners).
