To the best of my knowledge it's all metric. I haven't owned an american car since my '89 SHO, but most of it was metric.

The idler pulleys are pulleys who's only function is to turn. That is, they do not drive the belt, as with the crank pulley, nor are they driven by the belt, as with the alternator, power steering, etc. pulleys.

On the Saab turbo engine, the upper rear pass. side pulley is part of the belt tensioner system, the center one changes belt direction.
