On my 1998 Saab 900 SE Turbo, Silver, 5 door, Automatic Transmission
Purchased Nov. 15th, 1997 I have had relatively few problems. Most of the warranty items were known problems with Saab service bulletins, including the head gasket leak. I don't really have any worries that my Saab will last a long time as long as I do the routine maintenance and keep on top of any problems.

3/09/99 18,426 Warranty Item-SRS light on, dealer replaced driver’s seatbelt tensioner.

3/23/99 19,356 Warranty Item-A/C unit “freezing-up” causing loss of air movement in cabin. Technician replaced A/C thermo switch.

4/06/99 19,530 Warranty Item-A/C unit still “freezing-up”. Technician replaced A/C thermo sensor.

4/21/99 19,855 Warranty Item-A/C unit still “freezing-up”. Technician replaced A/C coil frost sensor. (Finally fixed the freeze-up problem. Only took three tries, this Saab technician needs some more training!)

6/17/99 21,092 Warranty Item-Replaced SAAB Information Display unit because of bad (intermittant contact) menu button.

12/06/00 35,636 Warranty Item-Technician investigated “groaning” sound and vibration that occurred when the A/C compressor cycled on at idle. Replaced cooling fan assembly and A/C pressure switch.

03/22/01 38,361 Warranty Item-Leaking coolant from the right front portion of the cylinder head gasket necessitated replacement of the cylinder head gasket and head bolts. The engine coolant thermostat was also changed as a precautionary measure.

06/18/01 40,096 Warranty Item-Technician investigated “humming” sound from serpentine belt area. Replaced lower idler pulley and belt tension pulley under warranty.

08/27/01 42,161 Replaced stock battery as preventative maintenance.
