I didn't have any clutch problems. The original clutch was replaced at about 20k under warranty, the second was on the edge of being replaced when the car was totalled at about 100k. The only non-maint. repairs I had on that car were the oil-pressure sending unit, the ACC fan controller, the a/c compressor and the water pump. The first two were ~$20 fixes, the last two were not.

The SHO could have definitely used more body integrity and a better suspension but the SHO seats were, like the engine, worlds better than what my Saab has. Oh well, I guess one can't have everything, although a 540i 6-spd or M5 might come close.
