The timing belt was replaced about 1,500 miles ago in April of 2002. I guess it comes down to whether to trust the Saab Tech who looked at the engine or heed the general consensus on the board that the tensioner kit should be a routine change. The timing belt had been changed at the 35k service in 1999 as well but I don't have any knowledge that the tensioner was replaced then either.
