Hopefully it's clean. Lemmee ask you this-- if you were only doing 10 miles over the limit, why did the cop give you a ticket in the first place? There's no cop in Maryland (where I come from) that would risk having to spend time in court on charge that he might lose, and 75 in a 65 mph limit isn't one that would stick. Were you really doing 85? Did he reduce the speed overage because he wanted to do you a favor because you were a nice guy? Were you doing way more than that to begin with?
If that wasn't the case, stand trial. And remember this, BE HUMBLE. No judge likes an a-hole trying to beat the system. I've managed to beat points (indeed, this is the ultimate goal-- to keep your insurance costs down) every time by throwing myself at the mercy of the court. I dress nice and act intimidated. I'm also completely polite, very nervous, and respectful. Sometimes I've told the judge that I wasn't sure whether to plead guilty or not guilty, but that I couldn't dispute the charge of the policeman. I usually come up with some sort of mumbled lame-ass excuse on why my mind wasn't paying attention to the speed limit. Like my wife just laid divorce papers on me. (trust me, judges truly GET this) I always say it's no excuse, but that I just f'ed up, and that I never speed, just look at the record. The usual response is that he could find me guilty based on my testimony, but is going to give me PBJ (probation before judgement) which keeps my record clear unless I have another offense within 3 years. In 35 years of driving, I've managed to wiggle out of every ticket I've ever gotten with this tactic, as well as a few I might have gotten, if the policeman had decided to write it. Sure, I've had to pay court costs and an occasional fine (twice out of 8 appearances), but it sure beats points.
