I'm surprised you are having such a hard time finding a place to make a spray can for you. I got mine for $20CDN about 4 years ago, at the second place I went to, just across the street from the first.
An airbrush will work, but then you need a compressor, hose, etc, and then there's clean-up afterwards. The touch-up paint won't work straight out of the bottle, because it is far too thick. You might be able to thin it, but I'm not sure what kind of paint that is. Unless someone can give you a more definitive answer, you'll have to experiment. The consistency of the paint should be thicker than water, but a lot thinner than the goop it starts out as. Getting the right consistency is going to be crucial to getting it to blend in with the paint on the car. This is why I think the spray can is a better option, if it is available to you. But for $120, I can see why you balked.
You may not want to bother with a clear coat. The colour should match without it, so it depends on what kind of paint it is. The clear coat may actually make it stand out more, because it's one more layer of something you have to try to integrate with the rest of the coat of paint.
