Wow... it's been a long time since i supplied that schematic to Mr. Bevan and even longer since i've been back to this site.
The reason I came back was that i picked up an iPod and was going to search to see if anyone liked any FM transmitters. ( Just heard they came out with a 20 GB for same as i paid for the 15 - grrrrrrrrr).
I'm posting to say that you can buy short din cables from aftermarket suppliers ( i picked up a 5 footer to place my changer into the glove box years ago ).
Perhaps , by using two 5 footers ( shortest i found ) along with the with the existing din cable from the trunk/boot you could then build a custom three way din terminal with a relay built in, tuck it all away and switch back and forth with the touch of a button? (i.e. two inputs one output to the head).
Can't remember where i got cable form but it was here in So. Cal. down in Orange County somewhere (had to pose as a dealer - wasn't cheap).
