Actually the suspension problems with the strut mounts wearing out and knocking happen to all NG900s and Saab never improved this part. There was a suspension upgrade which occured on 1995 1/2 onwards which changed the position of the anti-roll bar on the front control arms. The problem was with front end vibration at 60-70 MPH in some of the early cars. Many early NG900s drive just fine without the upgrade (mine), some do not. Often the upgrade is done to make up for what is really poor wheel balance, bent wheels, or poor alignment. This BBS is replete with postings on this topic if you use the search function.
My best advice to you is take your prospective purchase to a Saab dealer and get a thorough PPI (pre-purchase inspection). This will be the best $50-100 you will spend and can give you negotiating fodder for getting a lower price.....or keep you from buying a nightmare.
