'98 is a great year for saab. the '99 9-3 is basically just a rebadged 900. Same engine, t-5. y2k starts a different engine management system. Some good points and some not so good points. You will probably get the most bang for your buck in a '98. Great Car. I own a '99 9-3 and am very happy with it. I am glad to have a '99 with the t-5 for the fact that you can tweak the engine much more easily than the newer cars with the t-7 engine management. each year newer means more money, IMHO I'd say '97 '98 or '99.
