HG gaskets, if they leak its from the bolts not been tight mostly. VC gaskets are a very easy change. And sometimes the VC bolts are not properly tightened. Remove the DI or cover to access them all.
Some seals in distributors fail. I think that you have to replace the distributor. I don't know of a repair.
All of the original rear seals will fail on the early production. Synthetic cannot be blamed for that. I found that when mine went that M1 10W30 leaked a lot less that Castrol Faketek(tm).
The seal at the timing chain cover can be changed out, but would still cost a few hours of labor I expect. Probably good to combine with a new belt and pully while thats disturbed already.
Why are the NA engines hard on oil? Partly the owners to blame I expect and the higher compression ratio might be hard on the oil as well.
You can do a semi synthetic and that will help remove deposits as well and keep the seals fed with dyno.
M1 is your choise for a synthetic. You might as well get a real synthetic instead of a group III oil. Rotella Synthetic 5W40, $12.88 a gallon at Walmart in a blue jub is your best bet for a group III oil. For Mobil 1, use the 0W40 for the best protection. the #40 oils will make your engine quieter and feel smoother and might increase you MPGs as well.
