I am just converting from 2 years with Klasse to Zaino, so you might wait a bit (or make that leap of faith!). The reformulated Klasse is getting less than stellar reviews on some of the other detailing bbs. FYI, I used Z-2 Pro with ZFX (an accelerator/catalyst) this past weekend and that was all, and twas quite impressive. Zaino has the *best* durability, at least according to the more independant detailing reviewers/bloggers. (See Zainobros.com)
I opted for a boar's head brush (Eastwood has the best less-expensive version) and it is very easy to use and much longer/quicker than a sponge (oh, and gentle).
Get 3-4 some high quality microfiber towels (I like Waynestowels.com...go for the Waffle Weave drying towels at $19 or so) for drying, and STOP RUBBING the towel on the paint (forgive me if you already know this). Just lay the towel (whatever kind you use) on and let the towel absorb the water. The rubbing causes micro-scratching.
Not big on tire dressings, so can't comment. Same with leather dressings for the interior. Also, I have a new '04 9-5, so can't comment on using polishes and random orbit polishers.
Rhino Ramps ($16 at Wal-Mart, $22-25 at the auto retailers)...in case you wanna change oil yourself...I do, all the auto retailers take back your used oil.
Fumoto Oil drain-if you change your own oil. <$30, on-line only; world's greated shortcut for those who do their own oil changes. They make them for all car makes.
That'll get you started, all for under $100!
