Hey Frank,
I don't think there is a clear coat on white. When you use a cleaner wax does your rag get white on it.If so that white is paint. What you can do is:buff with a 0-3000 rpm buffer. Not an orbital buffer.First use a wool pad, then blue foam pad, then a white pad to finish. You may not even need the third step.Might as well try buffing first.Clean the paint real good with something called "prepsol" which takes off all the waxes down to paint.Use 3m brand "extra cut" rubbing compound. It's expensive. I got a Dewalt and having never done it before I did my'93 Aero first after just painting it which I also never did before. Then I buff my '95 Aero. You'll get the hang of it quickly, just start out like your trying to get the hang of it.Slow and steady.Stay in one spot too long with no compound on the pad and you will burn the paint. But all the scratches will come out and she will look sweet again. If your finish has deep scratches then you may want to wet sand and that is a whole "nother learning curve.Good luck
