Deep gloss and areas a duller white Posted by frank [Email] (#2509) [Profile/Gallery] (more from frank) on Fri, 20 Oct 2006 20:27:49 In Reply to: Re: Clearcoat paint, Donald Lipke, Fri, 20 Oct 2006 12:03:29 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
If you look up close and across the finish in the light some areas are dull. I used clay, 3m fine and medium and then P21s. Great from a few feet distant. I think the buffer may be next ( I'll start over) there are minor swirl marks. The dull areas to me look as if they are beneath the topcoat and I think that is clearcoat. I could be wrong. Anyway trying to decide if the paint is dead or just needs the buffer. I'm surprised the handwork didn't have the effect I wanted. The paint was real clean with little oxidation when I started. The finish looks like the beginning of the dead paint deal on my 1986 which is also white. Buff and wax the 1986 and a week later back to dull.
