as I said in my post above.....and there is nothing wrong with body fillers if the mix is correct.
We re-did my fathers 71 Pontiac 14 years ago and used fillers. Nothing is bubbling up to this day.
Would your bodyman who painted your 99 cut out surface rust? Or would he grind it the best he could, then sandblast. Fillers of some sort are still required if doing leadwork(either mud or primer...yes, primer is a filler also), and I have no experience with lead, so I use BONDO to fill body imperfections.:)..BTW lead is a POISON if you weren't aware....and I don't own a "hammer and dolly", so that's the end of that discussion. Your painter even admitted to using some filler, so obviously he has more experience than I in pounding out dents.
I see no reason why the work I did won't last. The blue cars sees no adverse weather(ie. snow and salt), it doesn't get wet(I just dust it off occasionally). The car was sealed with epoxy or urethane primer before paint. My surface prep before paint was 100% correct. Give me one reason why it wouldn't last forever under the conditions described.
