I use a laptop as my main work machine. It is plugged into an external monitor, keyboard, and mouse. I keep the cover slightly open because I believe some heat is dissipated through the laptop’s keyboard area. My question is this. Is heat supposed to dissipate through the bottom onto whatever the bottom is touching. I bought four little risers (about 1/4 inch) that the laptop can sit upon to allow air to circulate underneath but now I’m wondering if it was designed with the idea that the bottom of the laptop would act as a heat sink and dissipate heat onto whatever surface the whole bottom was touching. Any ideas?

p.s. It’s an Apple Powerbook (500Mhz) it that matters.
